Santa Sale part 2! 12/15/15

I don't know if y'all remember this incredible SANTA garage sale that I hit last year.

 Nothing but vintage Santa's and Christmas everywhere!

Well, they had it again and this time the prices were so good, I could afford just about anything. This box above was filled with POUNDS of Gurley, Tavern and misc. candles. They were asking 25c each so i was picking out the good ones and the lady came up to me and said, "You can have the whole box for $5." Heck ya! Throw it on my pile! There were about 45 Gurleys in varying sizes, all unburned.

These are Santas I could not afford at the last sale. Today they were 2 for $5. "Just fill up my box."

Lots of bags of smalls for wreath crafting. I bought both of those two squeaks in the background.I also bought about 25 small plastic Rosbro Santa and Snowman candy containers. 

Ceramic S & P shakers. I bought a bunch (not all) for diorama crafting.

There were also some vintage childs items, books, decor and some vintage Easter too.

I told the guy to call me next time and I would gladly take this stuff off his hands. He said OK and kept my number.

Christmas Thrifting and other Junque 09/11/15

The weather has FINALLY cooled down enough to feel a little like Fall and that puts me in the Christmas mood even more than I usually am. A recent visit to the thrift store netted some great finds! 

This is what the Christmas section looks like at our Salvation Army YEAR ROUND! Its so exhausting to find anything in that mess. I spent about 15 digging around and found the ONE thing worth digging for...

Here is a better look! One tiny strand of red mercury glass garland. SCORE! :)

Here is a view of my cart. Christmas stuff, La La Loopsy, bark cloth, metal doll house, plastic flowers, vintage photo album, etc. It was a good day.

Here are a few more finds from this weeks thrifting/yard sales. 

A pair of Parma paper mache' choir boy candle holders.

Another paper mache' angel, some foil craft ornaments, globe in acrylic (don't know why I love these) and some tart tins for crafting. 

Look at this groovy dancing girl! I love her! I'll bet she came with an equally groovy dance partner but he was no where to be found. I think he got one of these invitations for cocktails at a more hip shindig and split the scene, man.

Melted plastic popcorn candles and a bad view of the "lace" valentine table runner that I got for a quarter. It will go to the booth.

Lastly, a good pile of pink plastic bead garland for my tree or for crafting. Of course, I found this after I had spent $6 on pink beading at Hobby Lobby... Oh well. Now I have PLENTY! ;)

Holiday thrifting! 04/19/15

Over Easter I went a-travelin' to the west, namely to Nevada and California to visit my family. 

We always go thrifting because, well, that's the kind of family I have. 

(Lucky for ME! They raised me right!)  :) 

First stop was Goodwill in Carson City. 

That's my 86 yr old mom and her 89 yr old sister Eileen ten steps ahead of her because she didn't want us cutting in on any of her deals! 

 

Incidentally, my aunt Eileen and uncle Paul celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in January. Yep, you read that right...SEVENTY-SECOND!

Here is my aunt, yucking it up while my mom tries on clothes. 

My mom has been known to try-on just about anything for a laugh. 

Case in point.

2 enamel pins to add to my collection.

This is the sweetest vintage squeeky toy bunny! 

We hit a garage sale in a trailer park. We don't usually do that but the sign said "Craft stuff" so I talked the girls into going.

I'm glad I did because they had LOTS of Christmas stuff.

 I bought a bunch of vintage ornaments still in the packages. .25 cents each!

Look at all these KNEE HUGGERS!

Here's a bottle brush tree, a vinyl Santa door cover, a mini mug,

 a weird Japan angel and a couple of ornaments.

 I also got lots of bells for crafting, some sugared with mercury glass clangers.

This stocking ornament is made of cheepo plastic but is labeled JAPAN so its old.

 I was drawn to the two little dancing elves...they reminded me of the elves in Rankin-Bass' "Rudolph" show from the 60's.

And last is this creepy Santa pin with green rhinestone eyes and mean eyebrows!

Happy Birthday, Walt!  

Tuesday I had the pleasure of kicking off the Christmas season with my two daughters at the Happiest Place on Earth!

Although it poured rain ALL DAY LONG, we were happy with
 the "no-wait" lines at all the rides!

Before moving to the mid-west, I lived for 30 yrs in So. Cal.
I've been to Disneyland so many times, I like to think that I practically grew up there.

A cast member even gave all three of us

 "Honorary Citizen of Disneyland" buttons!

It was a beautiful night.

The castle was gorgeous.

Main Street was enchanting.

The Christmas Season has officially begun! :)

Christmas at the booth 11/20/14

YES! I know its not even Thanksgiving yet, but for me it's already Christmastime! :)

Here's what my new booth looked like last week, but since then I've had to rearrange it all twice because big stuff is just flying out of there! And that's a GOOD problem! :) This is actually my first attempt at having my own antique booth and it has been so much fun.

Because of my "Christmas Problem", I shop for vintage Christmas all year long so I have lots to offer. I'm still trying to figure out how to display stuff. I really need some more shelving and small tables. I'm also selling a few of my crafty creations like decorated bottle brush trees. And I have just replenished my supply of glue sticks so I'm ready to roll! 

SANTA Sale part 1 10/30/14

I have a Christmas problem. I'll be the first one to admit it. It's an obsession. So when a customer came into my shop and told me that she went to a garage sale with nothing but vintage Santas for sale, all you could see was a Rosie-colored flash flying out the door!

See these two people in the background of this pic? That gentleman's 90-something year old mother left her Christmas collection to him. And here it was, the THIRD day of the sale! Heaven knows what I missed....

But there was still plenty to choose from....

I have dreams of sales like this.

 $30 bucks later, I had boxes of items to add to my crafting supplies!

Christmas has definitely arrived early!

Church Rummage Sale goodies 05/09/14

It's still been a little chilly in the mornings but that doesn't deter the die-hards. This is a picture of the line to get into Christ the King rummage sale. That's only 1/2 of the line...there were just as many people standing in line behind me!  

This is always a great sale with a wide variety of junk filling the entire gymnasium area. It's mostly "stuff", not clothing, which is just how I prefer it!

They even have a separate "Holiday Room." You KNOW I make a bee-line straight to it as soon as the doors open. How would this church feel if it knew it was contributing to my Christmas "problem?"

Well, here we go.

Lots of goodies for Ebay.

That Christmas birdhouse will be repainted and will be hung in my new garden.

Nice linen Santa dish towel, a knee-hugger w/green mercury picks, an Irmi baby lamp.

Great beaded ornaments, spaghetti Christmas angel, a shiney brite indent, 

and a flocked dancing Santa.

Check out this crazy mercury glass garland! The large beads (compared to the reg. sized ones in the plastic box in the forefront) are threaded on the electrical wire that lights the bulbs in between! Have you ever seen that before?? It's so old that I haven't gotten up the courage to plug it in to see if it works for fear of setting the house on FIRE!

I bought two original Bild Lilli dolls, the precurser to the No. 1 Barbie. They need some work. I dressed them in some great handmade vintage clothes that my MIL just gave me. 

Another Bild Lilli, an uncut big book of SUPER valentines, a really nice small bell jar for crafts.

This is a box of old candle holders to put on a Birthday Cake. 

I love the Goldilocks/3 Bears graphics!

I'm estimating they are from the 1930's or 40's judging by the graphics.

Some empty Small World Avon pins that will become picture lockets.

CRAZY awful beaded ornament but I love it because of the teeny deer

 and the 1/2" bottle brush tree on the pedestal in the center! It's OVER THE TOP!

Remember baking marbles as a kid?? Someone made this little mouse with that method.

 Too cute.

PS- I sold both the Bild Lilly dolls for over $5000! Woot!
